We have two members of staff who work primarily with the babies, both of whom have taken specific baby room training, are Paediatric first aid trained and have completed the lullaby trust Sleep Safe training. Our babies will also access our well equipped garden on a daily basis.

Our Pre School Room

2 - 4 years old

Our Pre school room is well equipped with a wide variety of educational resources.
We have a craft area, a cosy corner, a construction area and a regularly changing role play area, as well as our ‘choose it, use it, put it away’ area. The children are offered lots of opportunities to write and draw, as well as engage in sensory activities.

Our Pre School room is staffed by 3 to 4 well qualified, nurturing members of staff who provide well-planned, age-appropriate activities for the children. Every day the children have access to our ‘Outdoor Classroom’ where they are encouraged to be curious about the world around them. They use the Pre School garden on a daily basis , to climb, jump, balance, swing and run. We grow plants and herbs and also have a beautiful willow den for the children to play in. Our emphasis in the Pre School room is developing independence

  • We provide a curriculum for the foundation stage which continues through to the end of your child’s reception year at primary school. This curriculum is set out in a document published by the Department for Education and skills, called The Practice Guidance for the Early Years foundation stage (EYFS).

The guidance divides children’s learning and development into seven areas:

    1. Personal, Social, and Emotional development.

    2. Communication and Language.

    3. Literacy.

    4. Mathematics.

    5. Understanding  the World.

    6. Physical development.

    7. Expressive Arts and Design

  • For each area, the EYFS sets out Developmental stages. These stages state what it is expected that children will know and be able to do by the end of the reception year of their education.

For each stage the guidance sets out look, listen, and note which describe the stages through which children are likely to pass as they move towards achieving the early learning goal. We use the EYFS to help track each child’s progress and to plan the right activities to help all of the children move towards achievement of their full potential.

  • A keyworker will be allocated to your child. They will be responsible for recording your child’s progress during their time with us. Your child’s key worker and the other staff members will work closely with you, as parents, to help your child to settle into the routine of Pre-school. Your child’s learning journey stores information regarding your child’s progress throughout their time at Pre-school, the starting block for these files is the all about me sheet which is filled in by the parent at the start of your child's journey with us.

  • The program of activities will be organized in such a way that all children, regardless of age, ability and gender, will be given an equal opportunity to participate in enjoyable, creative and stimulating play and recreation at all times.  Each day there will be free choice creative activities as well as more structured play opportunities.  Activities may include cooking, painting, themed craft, group games, and sports, amongst a host of other things. With all our activities, we pay close regard to the children’s safety and security at all times. We do spend lots of time outdoors so warm/ waterproof clothing is essential.
